Planning to visit the Museum Trail? Here are some helpful tips and answers to frequently asked questions!

Where do I start my journey?

+ Check the Trail & Parking Map here to find parking at trailheads located at the end of Laurel Street in Belhaven Neighborhood, Spengler Street near the Mississippi Farmers Market, or on street parking at Museum Boulevard next to LeFleur’s Bluff State Park.

How long is the existing trail?

+ The existing section of Museum Trail is an asphalt path totaling 3 miles. It currently connects from the Mississippi Farmer’s Market at High Street, through Belhaven Neighborhood, and terminates at LeFleur’s Bluff State Park along Museum Boulevard.

What’s down the line for the trail?

+ Down the line, Museum Trail will total 6 miles and connect many of Jackson’s museums, restaurants, and attractions. The next phases include the Capital Green Connector, The Arts District Connector, and LeFleur East Connector.

What are some safety tips?

+ Make it social! Bring a friend to catch up on your next trail walk or join a local run club to have extra comfort and community around you during your visit.

+ Make sure to charge your phone before hopping on the trail, stay alert, and be aware of your surroundings.

+ If you spot anything suspicious, please report it immediately to Capitol Police at (601) 359-3125 and send us a notice through Instagram DMs @musuemtrail.

What are some destinations along the trail?

+ Take the Waterworks Connector to Museum Boulevard and visit LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, home to the Mississippi Children's Museum and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science! Learn more about LeFleur Museum District here.

+ For a more secluded walk in nature, take the Belhaven Mountain Bike Trails! We recommend the Perimeter Trail for your first visit, find the directions here on AllTrails.
